User Policy
How InContacts handles your information.
Effective date: July 2026
Overview
This User Policy explains how InContacts handles information about you when you use the app. It covers what we collect, how we use it, what other members may see, and the choices you have.
InContacts is built around trusted network discovery—not a public directory of strangers. We aim to collect only what we need to connect you with people you may already know or reach through friends-of-friends, while keeping sensitive details such as your exact location and full contact list private from other users.
This policy works together with our Terms of Service. If anything here conflicts with applicable law, the law controls.
Data we collect
When you use InContacts, we may process:
- Account and profile data — phone number for verification, name, offerings, optional profile photo, profession-related catalog data, and onboarding status.
- Contact data — names and phone numbers from your address book when you grant permission and confirm sync.
- Location data — coordinates used on the server to sort results and match inquiries; not shared as raw coordinates with other users.
- Activity data — inquiries you create, interest you express, jobs, ratings, and metadata about calls or messages you initiate through the app.
- Device and app data — app version, operating system version, and technical diagnostics needed to operate and improve the service.
We do not need the content of phone calls or third-party chat messages to provide core features. Communication history records that an action was initiated—not what was said in external conversations.
How we use your data
We use your information to:
- Verify your account and keep you signed in securely.
- Map your network so you can search direct contacts and extended connections.
- Show relevant inquiries in discovery feeds and sort results by proximity rules.
- Display connection paths—for example, direct contact or you → mutual friend → them—so you can decide whether to reach out.
- Operate trust and safety features such as interest, reject, block, jobs, ratings, and communication gates.
- Respond to support requests and enforce our Terms of Service.
We use data minimization in the product: the app should not reconstruct protected server information—such as another person’s exact coordinates—from distance hints or other derived data.
What other users can see
Other InContacts members do not receive your full contact list, raw GPS coordinates, or phone number by default through discovery features.
Depending on context, others may see:
- Your profile name and optional profile photo.
- Your offerings and public profile fields needed for matching.
- A path hint showing how they are connected to you.
- Distance-style information —for example, kilometers away—not a map pin at your home or workplace.
- Inquiries, jobs, ratings, and interest status according to app rules and your actions.
Paths and distance hints are designed to help trusted introductions without exposing private address-book contents or precise locations.
Contacts and consent
Contact sync happens only after you grant device permission and confirm sync in the app. Contacts are uploaded so the server can match you to other members and build your network graph.
Phone numbers are handled in a privacy-conscious way—hashed for matching where appropriate—and encrypted where needed for operations. We match phone hashes; we do not spam your friends on your behalf.
If someone in your address book has not joined yet, the system may keep a minimal placeholder for matching without storing unnecessary personal details. When that person joins, identities may merge so your network stays stable.
Each sync records a consent version tied to the policy copy you saw. That version may be updated when policy text changes, and the app may ask you to review updated consent when required.
Location
Location helps sort search results and match inquiries to people nearby on the server. The app uses your location for geo-based discovery features when you grant permission.
Other users do not receive your raw coordinates. They may see derived hints such as distance in kilometers. Denied or limited location permission may restrict discovery and onboarding features that depend on geography.
You can change location permission anytime in your device settings. The app should guide you when a feature needs location access.
Device permissions
InContacts may request:
- Contacts — during onboarding or when you first sync, to map your network.
- Location — when discovery, inquiry matching, or onboarding needs geo-based features.
- Photos or media — when you choose images for your profile, inquiries, or jobs.
If you deny a permission, the app should show a clear fallback state and, where appropriate, a path to device settings. Denied contacts or location access limits network discovery; denied media access limits image uploads.
Communications
When you tap call or message, InContacts records that you initiated contact with another member, along with timestamps needed for communication history and trust features. This metadata can unlock later steps such as creating a Job or participating in ratings.
We do not store the content of calls or messages handled outside the app. Chat or call content remains governed by the services you use to communicate.
Analytics and diagnostics
We may collect product and technical events to understand how the app is used and to fix problems—for example, onboarding completed, sync finished, inquiry created, or API errors by endpoint.
Our public website (incontacts.app) may use Google Analytics to measure visits and page views so we can understand how the site is used. Analytics should not include OTP codes, access tokens, raw phone numbers, or other sensitive identifiers in logs or crash reports. Events may include app version, OS version, and an anonymized or internal user identifier.
Retention and your choices
We retain data for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce our policies. Some data may remain for a limited period after account deletion where required for legal or safety reasons.
You should be able to:
- Update your profile, offerings, and optional photo in the app.
- Archive or hide inquiries you created.
- Withdraw interest you expressed on others’ inquiries.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data—including communication history, jobs, and network links.
- Request a copy of your data where available.
Exact self-service deletion or export flows may vary by app version. Contact support at
Security and policy updates
Access tokens are stored in secure storage on your device. We work to protect data in transit and at rest using industry-appropriate measures. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we aim to reduce risk through minimization, hashing, encryption where needed, and access controls.
We may update this User Policy from time to time. When we do, we will make updated copy available in the app and on this website. Material changes may be communicated in the app, on this site, or through support channels. Continued use after an update may mean you accept the revised policy, unless applicable law requires a different process.
